The night was characterised by a small turn-out (five) and terrible beat-downs and suckouts... if you were Ken Neafcy, that is. Despite all his efforts and city taxes smuggled in just for poker-night BuyIns, Ken was unable to scratch the surface. Here's a typical example - Ken followed Galway's (mildly confident) All-In with a Call, and showed that he had two pairs (jacks and sevens) over Galway's paired ace. As the river came up, the board ended up with a pair of tens, rendering Ken.s pair of sevens useless and Galway won. In other moments, Ken found himself with full houses... only to get U-Boated TWICE by other players. You can imagine the chips flowing from his pile like water from a busted dam.
The too-bad-it-wasn't-on-camera moment of the night was when Eric, drunk on wine and flushed with adrenalin from being knocked out of the game by Galway's nut flush, reached out his arm and clenched fist in a "mock punch" move, only to realise he didn't know the length of his own arm, and physically punched Galway on the nose pretty hard, to the certain pain and astonishment on the part of Galway. But both were laughing hard immediately, so no harm done. This reporter speculates that there could be many readers wishing they'd had the same opportunity as Eric...?
Dan's King-Jack weren't able to beat Galway's pocket 10's and he was out; can't remember the final hand of the night though, ah well.
