WEEK 27 RESULTS
1st ($140 / 13pts): Randy "Nice Ace" Ryan
2nd ($70/ 9pts): Dan "Yo-Yo" Osborne
3rd ($0 / 5pts): Josh "Hanging Around" Spurgess
High Stakes / 8 Players / 1 Table / 12:55a Endtime
Yet another computer crash (the 2nd in 4 weeks) delayed my entry a few days, so my memory might be a bit fuzzy. Here goes:
Martin showed up quite late, which seemed to discombobulate his normally gonzo style. In fact, he laid down KK on the flop after Dallas went all-in and Dan called, showing great reserve and smart play. It also caused a rip in the fabric of the universe; the mushroom-headed horses should be starting their invasion at any moment. (Maybe it was the queso compuesto, Mr. Galway?)
Newcomer Phil, Dallas, and Adam went out first, Adam having rebought after the 2nd hand of the evening. Eric, who seemed to remain within a few chips of his initial buy-in for most of his tenure, never won anything big and was finally put out of his misery in 5th.
Most notable was that, while there were some of the usual suck-outs, I don't recall any that were truly horrid. Most of the winners displayed decent cards when turning over, such as when Dan's A-J took out Randall's A-Q on the river by pairing the Js. (I'm sure someone will remember differently, but there has been some sleep deprivation on my part...)
Martin finally succumbed to the slow bleeding of more conservative play coupled with rubbish cards, finishing 4th when Josh took him out. Josh had solid play all night; never a real small stack, and had climbed to be the chip leader about 20 minutes before the evening ended. However, a couple of large pots allowed Dan & Randall to bash away at his chips, and in the space of 3 hands he went from large stack to out.
Dan's evening was somewhat typical for him of late: way up, almost out, fought back, chip leader when it got down to 3 people. Dan & Randall went heads-up for a bit, but in the end Randall was fortunate enough to have every A-x he bet hold up against whatever Dan had.
