Following up on one of the recent themes, let's first start by addressing the "pout" factors. As might be obvious from the results, I was not the pout-miester of the evening. In fact I had very little to complain about, for the lady of luck treated me generously indeed. But more on that later.

The night's "pout" champion was actually one of our guest players Doug. Though he certainly proved able to hold his own in the verbal combat that is the norm at our table, I'm not sure Doug ever recovered from brutal beat-down that he took from Mick - both in cards and words. Yet again I suspect this was another player that showed up giving our quaint little home game players little credit - especially with a girl playing. Ironically, the only truly impetuous/novice play against him was made by.... me. Otherwise both he and Bart pretty much got walloped .... by Mick.

As for the game overview, the night was one of fairly solid poker. The game was relatively short not because of huge plays, but from what seemed to be an agonizing lack of cards for three of our solid players. Eric H, Dallas D, and Ray F all gritted their teeth and did their best to sit tight through an unending frost of a cold deck. Each held out as long as possible, but with Josh S, Mick M, and I hitting the cards they seemed to miss it was merely a cruel and slow death they endured as hypothermia set in.

Martin G played well, but ultimately got snapped in an agonizing Flush over Straight bear trap - sprung by Mick M of course. Martin G and Doug were but two of Mick M's victims along her way to compiling the most Kills in one game this season: 7.

Unfortunately for her what should have been her eighth Kill ended with a major suck-out that was the turning point of the night. Adam J Tripped his KQ on the Flop, but his raise was not big enough to push Mick M (and her big stack) off her Flush draw. The Turn showed the third diamond, but Adam J wasn't convinced and declared All In. Mick M made the call instantly and fiendishly showed her JTd Flush. On the cusp of commencing his pout, Adam J slumped back in his chair and begged, "Pair the Board!" And Ms. Luck complied to fill out his K/7 Boat.

Josh S played a great and game. One of his bigger pots was on the strength of a flopped Set of Ducks against a helpless Dallas D who held Ladies with no over cards showing when pushed All In. Fueled by these and other well played hands, Josh S seemed to open up his game and we even saw flashes of hyper-aggression from the normally super-tight gentleman.

Going into three-up Mick M held the lead, but both Adam J and Josh S had credible stacks. Mick M took down Josh S and thereby secured a 3 to 1 chip lead over Adam J. But in another painful near-miss, she called Adam J's All In with her top-paired J5 only to discover he held J6. And just a few hands later she suffered another brutal hand when her pre-Flop All In with QJs made a Flush only to be beat by Adam J's 44 making a Boat to end the game.
