So, tonight we got the long-awaited answer to poker's most important question: Who is the biggest Musical Theater Fag at McJo's table? Spoiler Alert! John St. Denis moved to Houston, so it's me. Margaret tried to bring some noise and/or some funk, but was stymied during the Golden Age of the movie musical. Randy demonstrated some fine form, but lost style points by bringing up "Sweet Charity," then not following up with a single tune from it. That's what we in the MTF business like to call "pulling a Pirelli." You gotta deliver on your boasts, tough guy.

Oh, we also played poker.

Newcomer Staci P. (gotta be her stage name - she probably used to do backing vocals for Prince) made a significant impression, pushing Dallas out of a big pot early on a stone-cold bluff and then following up by baiting Eric into an ill-advised all-in against her rockets. Nothing like having a new player show up and make strong moves, leaving you saying "If this was Martin, I'd call; if it was Ray, I'd fold; but with the new girl, maybe I'll just pretend like I don't know it's my turn and hope they just chop the pot and let me leave with my dignity."

The night was notable if only for the number of players still alive through the 4th round (all of us). There was some trading of chips among the big stacks, but not a ton of drama. Laura never got going, and was the first player out. Randy, Ken and Aaron all died without fanfare in the 5th round or so. Eric was up and down (naturally), but finally fell. Ray was his usual tight self, but apparently got no cards whatsoever. For the rest of us, that means leaving before round 3. For Ray, that meant he lasted until the blinds ate him up.

The final 4 consisted of Margaret, Adam (as always), Staci and Dallas. Margaret was a significant chip underdog to the other three, and lost on one of those "guess I gotta go now" hands that we all hate to play but have to as the short stack. Dallas, Adam and Staci played very tight, very boring poker for what seemed like ages (to Ray and Eric, who were dealing at the time). Finally, Dallas made an all-in move (K-x is good, three-handed right? Right? *crickets*) that Staci called with her pocket 9s. Unfortunately for her, the Good/Lucky wheel of fortune made a selection for the latter and Dallas' King came on the river.

With that stupid play behind him and a significant chip advantage, Dallas waited for Adam's all-in and pounced. The first time, Dallas had a pair against Adam's flush draw - the flush hit and the chip stacks got slightly closer (Dallas was probably only 2-1 or 3-1 after that hand). The second time, Dallas also had a pair against Adam's flush draw and the flush didn't come.

Luck, be a lady tonight! Luck, be a lady tonight! Luck - if you ever were a lady to begin with - luck, be a lady tonight!

I didn't realize I had to sing; I was merely calling off plays to see if you and Margaret could keep up. So:

The first song is called (I believe) Charity. C'mon, you know it:

Sweet Charity
Sweet Charity
Be good to me, sweet Charity

The two big tunes from it were "Hey Big Spender" and "If My Friends Could See Me Now." I'm sure there were others, but I don't remember them at the moment.

Wait...what am I doing??
