Week 28 Results
1st ($65/ 10pts): Dallas "Chief Chirpa" Dickinson
2nd ($0/ 7pts): Josh "Wicket W. Warwick" Spurgess
3rd ($0 / 4pts): Randall "Princess Kneesaa" Ryan
Low Stakes / 7 Players / 1 Table / 11:18p Endtime
With the exception of a spirited discussion over what level of "Martin Rule" we would be prepared to allow this evening (we allowed both a Vulture and a Pterodactyl to be in effect - so Martin got to die THREE TIMES), the game was fairly quick and businesslike, ending in time for certain parties to go home and get hammered before bed. I ain't saying who, but clever puzzle-solvers might be able to identify him by the hint "Princess."
Eric displayed the highest quality nerd-ear in the room - among giants in the field - by correctly identifying the sound of an Imperial Forest Scout Speederbike in record time and asking "Is your wife watching 'Jedi' in the other room?" of our gracious host, Mr. Osborne.
As far as poker goes, the game was relatively calm and even, with slight fluctuations resulting in an almost dead-even table at the second break. The only real drama in the early rounds came from Eric's two blind all-ins as time expired (or tried to expire - Daniel has to work out some bugs with his freeware round-timing software) in the second round. The second time, he was called by both Randy (cowboys) and Martin (all-in with AQ). The Kings stood up and Randy got a lovely double-kill.
The game turned ugly late when 3 players dropped out over the course of 4 hands, with Dallas playing a role in 2 of the 3 kills. This series of brutal second-bests (Eric loses when his straight gets flushed away, Daniel misreads Dallas and runs straight into quad 4s, and Martin's big slick dies to a pair of 4s from Randy), left a decidedly unbalanced table. Randy and Josh were left staring at a massive stack of chips that even Dallas couldn't piss away... or could he?
Turns out, he couldn't. He and Josh exchanged blows for less than a round, with Josh doubling up only once before Dallas called Josh's big slick all-in with an outside straight draw, only to pair his 7 on the river and bring the evening to a close.
No ewoks were harmed during the recording of this blog.
