Week 46 - Rivers of Hell
1st ($120 / 13pts): Randall "Final Kill" Ryan
2nd ($60/ 10pts): Martin "Suck-Out Specialist" Galway
3rd ($0 / 5pts): Mick "Not the River" McNulty
4th ($0 / 3pts): Margaret "4th Again?" Bridgeman
High Stakes / 7 Players / 1 Table / 11:44p Endtime
Martin kills Donny on the river when a 3 comes to two-pair his K-3. Donny had K-10. Worse yet, Donny had to deal for the next hour or so.
Martin horribly cripples Adam when he pairs on the river after being way behind.
I cripple Mick when my K-9 straights on the river to beat her A-Q. (At least I had 7 outs at the river instead of merely 2 or 3.)
And those are just the ones I can remember. There were at least two other river suck-outs.
As for the actual ebb and flow, Adam went out after Donny. Aaron was really never in the mix, but managed to hang on for a while. The blinds finally got high enough that he had to make a move and was clobbered by Martin's flush.
Margaret kept a decent stack most of the night, and stayed out of trouble with some seemingly prescient laydowns. For instance, she folded pocket Js pre-flop and rabbit hunted; the board would not have improved her hand and I showed pocket Qs. But late, she lost a huge amount to Mick on a semi-bluff, and was taken out shortly thereafter by Martin.
Mick was big stack at the 2nd break and was even larger 1 round later at about $65K. Then she lost some key hands and was under $20K and fought her way back to having almost $50K, only to have it all disappear in about 3 hands. First the suck-out described above, and then her all-in move ran into Martin's pocket As, which did indeed hold up.
Heads-up went very quickly when my K-Q hit top pair on the flop and straighted on the turn. Martin, unknowingly drawing dead, went all-in. Oops.
3 wins in a row. I've undoubtedly got some horrid weeks coming up.
