So I must admit, it takes a certain level of cockiness to start taking notes early in the 2nd round... It started tongue-in-cheek, but turned out to be a very good idea indeed. Unfortunately, looking back on my notes, I can hardly read any of the chicken scratch I wrote down, so go figure. Thus once again, names have been changed to suit my memory.

Early in rounds 1 and 2, I found myself with very playable hands that got crazy action post flop. 10's were hot early. My first big hand had me in late position with 10h10d. I make a small raise and am called by an early position better (Dan I believe). Flop comes 3,8,3 rainbow. dan bets, I raise big, Dan goes all in for slightly more than my raise, I call and my tens hold for a huge pot early. The second hand of note was again 10's. I had 10h10s in early position. I raise and am called by Dallas I believe in later position. Flop comes Jc10h3h. I check, Dallas bets, I raise, Dallas goes all in, I call. My set holds. The third big hand was late in the 2nd round. I have Js10s and call the blind amount. Randy calls in late position. The flop comes 10c10d5h. I bet out, Randy tired of my rush goes all in. I of course call. Randy shows K5, I take the pot. The last major hand of note I believe was at the end of the 2nd Round. I am on the button with Ad7d and limp in. 4 or 5 players are in the pot. Flop comes 3d5d8d. Dallas checks, Mic goes all in, I call, Dallas goes all in, I call again with the nuts. Mic shows Jd10d, Dallas has the 2nd nuts with Kd2d. 3 suited flushes all in perfect betting order. Good Fortune like this must be an Omen! My hand holds and scoop an uber-pot.

It should be noted as each new person leaves the table, they each remark in turn "Good luck Ray", with the implied "Fuck off Aaron" following. It is true that in all, I had 9 kills and did seem to take out a significant amount of people in a short amount of time, but the contempt displayed was truly impressive. As they say in sports, if they're booing you, you matter. So I'll take it as a compliment. Thanks guys, much appreciated! Now I know how Jeff Gordon feels...

At the end of an amazing first 2 rounds, I have 100K, Ray has 59K, Everyone else is under $20K. Adam was absent for most of the first 2 rounds, so missed a bunch of the fun.

Rounds 3 and 4 were relatively uneventful for me. I won some small pots and lost a few medium sized ones. I ended up knocking Adam out as he went all-in blind on a short stack from early position. I called from the button with KhQh. Adam has Ad2h. Flop comes 10h4h4d. Turn is 4h and I end his suffering.

At the 2nd break, I have 106K, Ray has 98K, Eric has 37K, Dan has 23K. We are down to 4.
Things start to go south fairly quickly. Ray eats away at my stack as does Dan. Eric eventually succombs leaving us with 3.

At this point, I am the small stack with < 30K left at 2K,4K. My immense chip stack has dwindled to all-in, every hand, status. I was fortunate to win a crippling all-in with Ah9s vs Dans Ac9d when I river 4 spades to catch a most unfair flush instead of splitting the pot. Following that, I had gone all-in a few more times with hands that were well ahead and took down significant pots.

By the time Dan finally bled away at the end, I had roughtly 140K, Ray with about 120K. At this point I offered Ray a even money split deal so that we could play out the rest just for the points. Ray, thinking he'll have all the money shortly, scoffs at my offer and declares war. The poker gods frown upon such greed, as we'll see shortly.

We tossed around some chips for about 10 minutes before we came to the deciding hand. I am on the button with 10d7d. I raise from the button and Ray calls. Flop comes Qh3d9d. 16K in the pot. Ray checks, I bet the min bet I believe, Ray raises, I go all in (80K or so raise), Ray calls. Ray shows Qs10s for Top pair. Turn is 2c. River 8d, I hit my flush and game over.

And so it goes. Now that my name is spelled correctly, I patiently wait for the day when my stats start to get calculated on the stat sheet. Perhaps then I've arrived! (It doesn't look like I'll make it to 25% of the games this season )

Aaron, for what it's worth, note that I did NOT wish Ray luck when I left. You are also an Indiana expatriate, and that stands for something, my fellow Hoosier.

So if Dallas tells you I told him that some story about you finding yourself trapped in a fenced-in area with a bunch of Bad Newz Kennels recently-freed-and-very hungry pit bulls, don't pay any attention.
