Week 7, 2009b

1st ($160 / 13pts): Adam J
2nd ($60/ 9pts): Ray F
3rd ($0 / 5pts): Randy R

4th ($0 / 3pts): Martin G
Low Stakes / 6 Players / 1 Table / 1130 Endtime

To begin with I played super tight. Actually for the first part of round one I didn't play at all. Eric H was at the game, but not to play of course - big wuss - just to visit. Having not seen us in a while he, Christie, and Simon brought over some fine chinese to share with Mick and I.

Once I joined the table I began playing my more speculative game. And though I cashed through Martin G with my first buyin, I quickly found my self digging for another 20d and the accompanying reload.

Ray F made a great call to blow up my All In using his top-paired Ten with a King kicker against my same pair but by out kicking my Queen. In the first three rounds Ray was the killer of all four of the players who would rebuy. On the strength of this smash-and-grab play, he had amassed a dominating chip stack.

Martin G had also played an impressive early game (as he is very capable of doing), but once again I took the roll of his nemesis. I encouraged his own aggression and then pounced on his AllIn bluff with my made boat.

As the game wound down I was also the beneficiary of yet another of the Poker Goddess' penchant for cruelty. The board showed 965/9/5. Randy and I both had a 9 down. Using his 9, and the 9's and 5's on the board he boated. Unfortunately he was U-Boated because I held 96. So my 9's full of 6's, snapped his 9's full of 5's.

I used this boost to my stack to continue my attack on Ray. I was fortunate to be sitting immediately behind him and as he bemoaned after the completion of the game, "Every time I looked you up you had the goods."
