It was a busy week at work and at home so I have only just come to writing the recap 7 days later and don't recall a lot...
I do remember that it was the first time at our table in quite a while for Laura B. She played really well. Much to the dismay of the table this included ramping up her aggression level. She earned a pretty big stack and by round four she was a strong contender for the win. But unfortunately a slow but steady collapse began after that. And it included the indignity of having her Queens cracked by Margaret B's Jx7d as she pulled four cards for a straight flush.
Part of the evening was spent discussing urban myths and Laura B's assertion that she had seen a internet video that demonstrated the (scary) ability of cell phones to pop popcorn with their signal intensity. Of course with a room full of cell phone owners this would certainly be pondered seriously. Thus at the break we tried several times to get a few kernels to pop when surrounded by four phones being simultaneously called by four other phones. The prevailing skepticism won out as all of nothing happened besides a high-tech approximation of those old football games where the little player figures drifted around the vibrating field.
In her inimitable way Mick M prompted Tia H to give us the low-down about her recent divorce. One of the bad realizations that came from this though is that McJo's poker is apparently one of Tia's things she is doing to celebrate her freedom. Thus everyone should brace themselves because that makes us her rebound poker game, and she is sure to dump us soon.
Oh yeah, and about the game... My cards where good at some important moments, my play was patient when they were cold, and I avoided my nemesis-like bad calls of Randy R.
